The N97 has been launched and on the same day Linux has been ported on iphone devices. What a day in history of handheld computing.
I remember when I first saw Newton way back in 1998. We use to work on Mail on the run to offer mobile email.

Today, Fantastic capability in device is allowing porting full capability OS on mobile computers.

Got two Video’s to share demonstrating where it could lead. First one is hands on experience of Nokia’s latest launch of N97 device :

Second is more of a hack. The iPhone (and ipod Touch) can run Linux. Though it is still to support full capability of firmware.

iPhone Linux Demonstration Video from planetbeing on Vimeo.

I wish we have so many devices and so many OS’s variations. Everyone uses that fits them most.
So how will application eco system survive?

Huh! Who is writing applications on native OS now ?

Flash to Java to widgets are the way to keep growing. standard based support of these frameworks will be critical.

When will devices like iphone and N97 to reach $100 mark? Any guess?
